We asked him a number of big questions; who is better Rashford or Mbappe? Will Manchester United win the Champions League? And how many Brazilian football club he can name in the very first Squawka Challenge. In the bigger games, Jesse has played at the tip of a midfield diamond which has also been interpreted as playing as a false 9 in a 4-4-2. This has allowed Manchester United to counter at blistering pace with Lingard as the link-man. Jesse spoke about how he enjoyed this new role to Statman Dave which allowed him the freedom on then break as well as being able to find space to offer a passing option for the likes of; Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. Marcus Rashford has been in scintillating form since Solskjaer took over, he has scored twice as many goals as he did under Jose Mourinho. Lingard came through the famous United academy with Pogba and has taken Rashford under his wing since the England striker has broken into the first team. Manchester United go into a massive month of the season in February having to face both Liverpool and PSG. Given his impact in big games recently, Jesse is likely to play a key role. PSG are without Brazilian star Neymar who’s broken metatarsal rules him out of both legs. Marco Verratti is also a injury concern for PSG coach Thomas Tuchel with leaves him light in midfield. Former Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria is likely to deputise for Neymar in attack, a player that couldn’t hack it at Manchester United unlike Jesse Lingard.
